PEOPLE :::

Comprising of more than 90% population of farmers, Bhutan is thinly populated across its rocky landscape of the Himalayas . While residents of lower regions mostly take rice, wheat, buckwheat, and maize, is the staple diet of others.

As the Bhutanese are used to living under least technologically-equipped conditions, being untouched by the otherwise widespread globalization and modernization, all of them commonly reflect a strong sense of independence and individuality. Physically sturdy and headstrong by birth instinct, the Bhutanese generally win hearts of their visitors with their open and witty sense of humor and warm hospitable ways.

The people of Bhutan speak many languages, including English. Bhutan 's geography has resulted into different ethnic groups, namely Lhotsampas (the Nepali farmers) in the South of Bhutan, Drukpa people in the Central Himalayan region, semi nomadic Yak shepherds in the North and Sharcops in the East. Our expertise on Bhutan enables us to offer you respective cultural experience and observance of a distinct commonness among them.

The social structure of Bhutan does not follow any rigid class or creed system. It allows equal rights to women and men in all respects. The opportunities of any nature do not get affected due to rank or by virtue of birth. The traditional clothing of Bhutanese men comprises of a long robe tied around the waist by a belt, called 'Gho'. Women wear an ankle length dress called "Kira". This dress is made up of colorful finely woven fabrics adorned with traditional patterns.
